250: Spain’s Little-Known Assistance to Washington
We are delighted to announce that Madrid-born journalist, writer, and humorist Guillermo Fesser will be joining us for our upcoming ADEMI event.
Many of you may know him from his radio career as co-host of the celebrated program Gomaespuma, which left a lasting mark on Spanish radio, as well as from his books, including A cien millas de Manhattan (One Hundred Miles from Manhattan), Conoce a Bernardo Gálvez (Get to know Bernardo de Gálvez), and A 55 millas por hora (At 55 Miles per Hour). In his work, he offers a distinctive perspective on society, culture, and the relationship between Spain and the United States.
His curiosity and deep interest in the history of both countries have led him to research and bring to light a fascinating, often overlooked chapter of our shared history: the important role Spain played in American independence.
As we commemorate the 250th anniversary of this historic event, Guillermo Fesser will take us on a journey through Spain’s contributions to the American cause for independence, introduce us to some of the key figures involved, and reveal surprising stories behind this historic collaboration. It is a story filled with little-known facts that deserves to be told and will undoubtedly help us better understand the historical ties between our two countries.
We invite you to join us for this talk, which promises to be an exceptional opportunity to learn, discover, and enjoy history in the company of a gifted storyteller and communicator.
